Do you remember what was said that day? More than likely no; rather, you remember what was done and what was sacrificed. But these were then-Mayor Bloomberg's words at the 1 year Memorial of 9/11:
Again today, we take into our hearts and minds Those who perished on this site one year ago And also those who came to toil in the rubble To bring order out of chaos To help us make sense of our despair
That is, in essence, what the brave first responders and other patriots did on that day: They brought order out of chaos to help the nation make sense of its despair. We are indebted to them for their sacrifice.
The message from Sunday centers on Luke’s gospel. Our Savior came to help us make sense of our despair as 'sheep without a shepherd', as lost sinners without direction or lasting hope.
That's not all: He came to bring order out of the chaos through his sacrifice on the cross. As you listen to the message posted under "sermons", you will hear about Jesus' joy in serving our greatest need – the need for forgiveness.
May this message lift you up as you ponder his words. Let us thank our patriots for serving our country, but even more may we thank our God for serving us in our spiritual needs.
God bless you as you spend time with Him and His people this week. God bless you always. Vicar David Young
I tell you, in the same way there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous people who do not need to repent. Luke 15:1-10 (EHV)
